We are now accepting nominations for the last annual Vogler Award.
The Vogler Award takes it's name from the character Father Vogler, played brillantly by Richard Frank in the 1984 movie Amadeus. Nominees are those actors who have delivered a brilliant performance using very little screen time.
Hmm...
Well, I don't miss the time and money spent, but that didn't quite work, did it?
First, as someone else has dealt with the gerbils, I'll leave that point unsaid.
It seemed pretty clear to me that Hollander was channeling Malkovich's Valmont. A good choice, I think.
Davy Jones and his lot - oh did that just not work at all. Just think of all the action figures it will sell! ick.
Depp didn't quite manage to draw from the same well as last time, did he? Maybe it's the writing, but Sparrow's motives had a lot more depth to the last time.
Follow the bouncing McGuffin!
Too much of the clever, I think. Elizabeth isn't much of a character; or at least her character hasn't had a consistent direction, but her one shining point is being smarter than everyone. Other people being smart for plot convenience really takes away from that.
Though writers should be forced to walk the plank for the crimes committed against the characters of Pintel and Righetti.
If you are going to play Liar's Dice with your soul on the line, wouldn't you rather be playing against Dewmi Moore?
If you maximize the Navigator window or any process window in Oracle Workflow Builder, you will not be able to access the menu from your keyboard using the Alt key.
Uh huh. Here's your sign!
Dave Thomas presents Stiener's Problem; an interesting optimization problem, minimizing the number of connections required to connect a set of points, which serves as a non trivial example of a problem that can be analyzed using targetless genetic analysis.
My only objection to the approach is that I'd rather see an entire binary sequence used, rather than the mix of base 10 and base 2. But that's an implementation detail, really.
