The Brethren

Today is the last scheduled decision day for this term at the United States Supreme Court (there may be another one Thursday if all pending decisions don't get out today).

There's been a lot of speculation about resignations at the Court. I think that, if we don't get an announcement today, then what's happened is that the members of the Courts, Chief Justice Rehnquist and Justice O'Conner in particular, have decided to stay on until the next Presidential election because of their involvement in the last one. By not permitting the man they appointed to appoint one of them, they help repair the integrity of the system.
