Mark Evanier is reporting (via Harlan Ellison) that Julius Schwartz is sick. He's 88 and in the hospital for pneumonia, but he's been old and sick before and he's not dead yet.
Julius Schwartz was primarily responsible for DC Comics' Silver Age and was of considerable importance throughout the company's long history, so most of the most entertaining comics of my life owe their success directly or indirectly to that man, a sentiment I once had the pleasure of expressing to him in person at the Chicago Comicon in about 1991. I admire and respect him tremendously.
