Ben Chandler for KY6

Thanks to Chuck Kuffner for pointing me to the news about Ben Chandler's opportunity to take a seat in the House for the Democrats. (And don't miss the Lexington Herald-Leader's endorsement!)

Ben's running to capture the seat left vacant after its previous inhabitant took Kentucky's governorship last fall. His opponent was hand-picked by Senate Tobacco Whore Mitch McConnell, is getting truckloads of Republican money, is running basically on a platform of "Bush says 'frog', I jump", and has been getting bogus "promises" from the House leadership to move on Kentucky-favorable legislation (like buying out tobacco farmers) only if she's elected. (Isn't there a law about bribing voters?)

Ben, on the other hand, is running a strong campaign based on moderate crime & security positions and liberal social positions, e.g., fixing Medicare prescription benefits.

So, I'm thinking, this is a damn good race for the Democrats to win. Pop on over to Chandler's site and do what you can to help.
