Monday night, I caught Al Gore on C-Span, giving the MLK speech he'd given earlier in the day.
Man oh man, do I want to vote for that guy again. He was passionate and intelligent and informed and really, really angry about all the crappy mistakes and lies of our government.
Either he was being severely handled during 2000 or else he's gotten a lot looser personawise since then. Via odd situations, I've had lunch with Gore and a small group of other people (but with me sitting right next to him, having been asked to save the seat for him) as well as a 15-20 minute talk with around 3-4 other folk and him in the last couple of years. Very different from the stiff persona presented in the 2000 campaign.
See, I think the line "Gore is stiff" was part of the campaign narrative that was promulgated by the media without any basis in reality, like "Gore is a liar". Anyone who saw the man on Letterman knew that he had a sense of humor and a lively intellect.
I'll grant, his stump speeches weren't lyrical extravaganzas delivered with the oratorical mastery of a great salesman, but they were stump speeches. When you've said the same dull, middle-of-the-road thing twice daily for a week, it's hard to work up a lot of enthusiasm...part of the problem with modern campaigns.
I think Gore in a lot of ways is a tragedy of being born into the wrong family. If he wasn't from such a long line of political greatness, he would have excelled as a mid level bureacrat or other policy wonk position.
The major drawback for Gore is just his personality. I think for Joe Six-Pack Gore reminds them of a boss that is smart, good-looking, and a bit irritating. I mean, how do you get shallacked in three debates by W. when you are smarter and a better speaker?
Besides, I think Gore's political career is finished, as the Democrats will put up either Hillary or John Edwards in 2008, and they will run against with McCain or Guiliani and get decimated.
okay, let's say you'd like to learn about an actual political campaign to impeach the president ...
ah, none of this noise about a yearning for somebody to go do it ...
in addition, you'd like to learn about a game plan to snag Osama ...

oh, yes, the above was copied and then pasted by an actual human being, who visited this "Frothing at the Mouth" blog.
oh, one more thing, keep an eye on Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional District ... I'm trying to base my campaign on the three planks I nailed together in my platform ... "impeach bush" is the first plank ... the second is "impeach bush" ... and the third is like the second, "impeach bush".
