Customer Malservice?

I think I was just lied to.

I placed an order with Eddie Bauer via the web on the 26th. I received a shipping notice on the 28th. The web site's tracking info says, and I quote,

Delivered at 3:08 pm on June 30, 2006 in HOUSTON,TX 77040 US

Since it did not arrive here, I called customer service.

According to them, it's in the system to arrive on the 10th.

I say, the website says it was delivered on the 30th.

EB: Oh, that probably just means it reached the post office.

Thinking: It takes ten days to get from the post office two miles away to my apartment?

So you have access to some extra information I don't that says it hasn't been delivered? Even though the website says it was delivered? Thinking: Gosh, that's some bad usability on the website.

EB: Yes. If you haven't received it by the 10th, call us on the 11th.

So I hang up.

I'm pretty sure I was just lied to.
