A Conclusion Regularly Fit for a Me

Abstract: The teaser - the problem - the test - the analysis - the result

The Great Jeans Experiment has produced significant results.

I mostly wear blue jeans. In fact, for many years, I wore nothing but Levi's 505, and usually Relaxed Fit. However, I'd become increasingly uncomfortable with this loyalty. First, quality seemed to have noticeably declined. Belt loops broke. The seam spiralled around the left leg, often ending up providing uncomfortable pressure when leaning my knee against something.

Second, I have a big gut and no butt. The jeans bagged around the butt. A lot. As in, I could have smuggled a 5-lb ham back there.

So I did some poking around on the web and found a place called Denim Express which had a wide selection of jeans at good prices, and I ordered a bunch of new jeans, to try them all out and see what fit best.

First, Calvin Klein Easy Fit: Comfortable, seemingly well-made, and the ham-smuggling room was down to maybe 3 lbs.

Second, Wrangler Rugged Wear Relaxed Fit: Marginally made with some significant seam creep, way too much room in the crotch.

Third, Lee Mens Regular Fit: Score! Seam right up at the crotch, only enough butt space for a packet of bacon, form-fitting on the thighs. For a gutty guy with a tiny butt and great legs, these are the jeans.

I still have a pair of Levi's 505 Regular Fit to test, but the conclusion seems inevitable: The fault lies with "relaxed fit", which is apparently for guys with big asses. If I stick with regular fit, I should be satisfied with my jeans.
