FAQ

What is WISH?

Game WISH (Weekly Idea Sharing Hegemony) wasa weekly writing exercise for gamers. This is the archive page for the FAQ for WISH.

How do I participate?

The question for the week is normally posted on Friday morning on Perverse Access Memory. Write your answer and post a comment to let us know you've written something, if you like.

How do I know when a new WISH has been posted?

There's a Yahoo group that announces new WISHes and other weekly game memes when they are published. It's free to join and only announces game memes (two as of this writing).

I was busy this week(end).

That's OK. WISH is supposed to be a fun exercise, not a drag. Do it when (and if) you have time.

I couldn't come up with a good idea.

That's OK, too. There's no penalty for missing a week.

I'm still stuck on last week's idea.

That's still OK. Write some more about it.

I'm fascinated by something someone else wrote.

If WISH starts game blogversations, that's really cool. I know I've already seen a lot of cool ideas and things I'd like to comment on in the first few weeks of reading along.

If you don't feel like blogging back, many participating blogs have email links or comment systems where you can leave your thoughts.

Where can I find older WISHes?

A permanent archive of the questions asked can be found in the Game WISH Archives. Many of the individual entries have links in the comments to the answers other bloggers have written for each question. If you go back and write an early exercise that interests you, go ahead and comment on that entry; the blog will email the comments to me so I'll be able to read it, let other bloggers know, and add you to the participating blog list.

Do I have to have a blog?

No, but it helps if you do. You can play along in the comments section if you like.

If you want to start your own blog, Blogger is a free weblog tool and very friendly to novices. You don't even have to know HTML. You can also get a free space to host your blog there, so you don't have to have web space, either.

Do I have to be a GM?

No. Some exercises are GM-oriented, but anyone can write along.

Can I suggest a topic?

We're always looking for interesting new topics. Email me with your idea and I'll keep it in mind for the next exercise.

Do you have a button or graphic for WISH?

We do now, courtesy of ***Dave. Thanks, Dave! Please feel free to copy the graphic and use it to link to this page.

I have a question you didn't answer.

Email me and I'll see what I can do. If it's a common enough question, I'll add it here for everyone's benefit.
