That war will spill over into Arden, and anyone caught in it unwittingly is likely to die.
— Julian, to Robin, on the impending war between Calliste and Artemis.
Spar didn’t come out.
He’s dead, Lady Brita.
— Rangers Briar and Vista, after Artemis’ appearance and claiming of Heather Vale. Some of the elders’ predictions of disaster come true sooner rather than later.

Well let's face it, there was never a Greek legend with the plot, "And they met the Greek god and had a great time and nothing bad happened to them." No, people die and get turned into trees and are hunted by their own dogs and get killed by their own son whom they sent out to die. Quite frankly, this is all pretty mild so far. So far. :)

Yeah, but now you guys have been warned. If you go up against Artemis again, she may be interested in something other than taking her son away, and may not be so nice to you guys.

She was not playing for keeps.

And I don't know about anyone else, but I've been considering this whole "War of the Goddesses" theme in light of the events going on back in the Isles, and I am not best pleased by the implications of things to come....

Well, seeing it from Artemis' PoV, she turned up saying 'my little boy is hurt, I'm his mum and I want to take him home' and a load of people she didn't know told her she couldn't. Then when Adonis himself tried to join his mother, someone broke his jaw, which kind of gave the lie to all that stuff about him being protected.
I think she was remarkably restrained, myself. :-)

Yes, but Brennan wasn't playing at all.
Brennan doesn't like to lose; Brennan plays long term; Brennan cheats.

One would like to think that the PCs can, indeed, make a difference, here, and that crafty enough plans have a chance of success.

(Actually, that sounds more confrontational than I mean it to sound. I have no reason to doubt that crafty plans can succeed.)

I think having a plan with more detail than "get her" would be good. (But that was sort of dictated by circumstance.)

I don't think she's untakable, but she's going to be tough to take in direct combat, that's for sure. Julian thought he could beat her, but he may have something up his sleeve, or know some things that you all don't.

There's my crafty plan right there! "Let NPCs play with NPCs. Spend all my time playing with PCs." :)

Ah, the "opposing god" rule. "When fighting a god, bring their opposition in to take a few blows."

"To beat the Monster, we need a bigger Monster.... errr, Goddess. That's right. Goddess." Where's Gaiazilla when you need her?
