Experience Award and Contributionposted by Ginger at 06:55 PM, March 22, 2003 | Filed under : Experience and Contributions Awards | Comments and Followups After some discussion, the GMs have decided to award a point of experience at the beginning of the masquerade. We will also be assessing contributions as of that date, so you know that you still have a little while to get your contributions in order. There are several things you should be aware of regarding contributions and experience, some of which are old news and others of which are new news. We will no longer allow people to assign points to powers they are trying to learn. We feel that we have been monumentally unfair to several characters who have held one or more points in reserve for powers they don’t yet have. Since we’ll have been playing for close to two years by the time we get this experience point awarded, we’d like to avoid repeating this mistake. We will not require people who have a point set aside for Pattern to spend it, because we really are going to put you on the Pattern immediately after the experience award comes out. Players need to justify how they spend their experience award based on what their characters have been doing in the course of the campaign. Ambersiders who have been leading trade missions have an easy justification for Pattern; Chaossiders who have been fighting with the army can easily justify increasing their Fire score. Start thinking about what you want and how to justify it. You can also use your experience point to buy off a contribution that you no longer want to maintain. This is also a good time to switch contributions, if you’re so inclined. Both of these options are subject to GM approval, of course. We will be sending private emails on contribution status sometime in the next couple of weeks. Exactly when will depend on our schedule. We’ll announce when we’re doing it, so don’t panic if you don’t get one immediately. Please review the rules before deciding how to spend your point. Particularly, please remember that you can’t assign more points to a power than to its corresponding element. If you raise an element score, you can change your specialty in it. Otherwise, you may not. You may not raise an element score above 7 or a power score above 5 without GM approval. We will require story reasons to grant any power. Getting Pattern requires a Patternwalk; other powers require a teacher. Questions and comments to the GMs, as always.0 Comments |
