Handling Posts You Think Are Out of Joint

posted by Ginger at 09:57 AM, July 18, 2003 | Filed under : Netiquette & Play Procedures | Comments and Followups

In order to minimally affect post flow, it’s best to resolve questions of blocking and placement either between players or through the GMs.

  1. The GMs want these kinds of questions resolved with as small an audience as possible.
  2. Not everyone is subscribed to or reads the OOC list.
  3. GMs can rule quickly and get on with play.

House of Cards asks players to play cooperatively even if the PCs are competing. And we expect that if you have OOC knowledge (and you do), you’ll make every effort to keep it from unduly affecting play.

Putting the majority of the action on a public list is a choice that is not without some trade-offs. We think the benefits of having an audience to inspire and observe your excellent play outweighs the burden imposed by possibly knowing more than you would in a more isolated system.
