Alternate Castings: Lucas

posted by Ginger at 10:44 PM, August 27, 2003 | Filed under : Alternate Castings | Comments and Followups

Fourth in the series.

This is Jude Law, whom I originally wanted to cast as Lucas. Jeremy thought he wasn’t sexually ambiguous enough. I think he’s cruel enough, which is more important.

Really? I saw Lucas as snarky and indifferent on many subjects, but somewhat good-hearted so long as he wasn't confronted with his noble deeds. But then, I didn't see the Amberside play. I may have to re-think Aisling's Lucas strategy...

Related not so much to the alternate casting as to Lucas, and some of the others:

For the PCs who have been abandoned by players, one could gain a neat sense of the history of the game by noting something like "formerly played by...." on the Dramatis Personae pages. OTOH, if one or more of the departed players did so under less than savory circumstances, it's understandable said history isn't indicated.

I think Lucas and Daeon are the only ones to whom that applies, actually.

Not the unsavory part, the "former PCs" part. Nobody has left HOC under unsavory circumstances, which makes me very happy.

Well, if cruel (or sharp and acidic) is what you wanted, why not Kevin Spacey? He was on my short list for Brennan castings, but Brennan evolved in a little bit of a different direction, so I'm not disappointed.

The only person on my original short list for Brennan that really still applies is Richard Dean Anderson. (Don't think MacGyver, think Col. O'Neill.)

Lucas should be pretty, too, and Kevin Spacey just isn't pretty. Pretty and mean, that's Lucas in spades.

Yeah, well.
Jude Law don't do it for me, either.

But I may not be the target demographic.
