Desktop Posting Clientsposted by Ginger at 11:36 AM, September 28, 2003 | Filed under : Technical Issues | Comments and Followups I’ve learned that I really prefer to post encyclopedia and log entries from the desktop, where I can save long entries to avoid losing them or compose entries to be posted later. I use Kung-Log, which is an amazingly user-friendly application that I can’t say enough nice things about. For those of you who are platform-impaired (Windows), I recommend Zempt, which isn’t as nice as Kung-Log but is still very useful. Supposedly there’s a Linux port of Zempt coming, but it’s not here yet. I don’t know if there is another client for Linux, so folks who use it may have to stick with the web client for now. 3 Comments Olof Hm. Not that I post all that much, but I wonder: what are the advantages with that kind of software compared to an ordinary text editor and cut&paste? Ginger You can also handle categories and some of the more complicated interface options (comments, etc.) directly in the client. Some people really don't care for the web interface in MT, including me. Arref Did download Zempt for a try-- but don't understand enough about MT to connect it apparently. Perhaps if I ask Meera I'll find what I'm doing wrong. It wants pesky URL info, and the autofind doesn't seem to 'find'. But I can see advantages. |
