Shadow Travel and Game Timingposted by Ginger at 09:57 PM, October 20, 2003 | Filed under : Netiquette & Play Procedures , Useful Player Knowledge | Comments and Followups Something that has come up in bits and pieces here and there, but is now important enough that I feel like we ought to mention it, is the issue of how shadow travel interacts with PCs’ ability to write themselves into threads. Shadow travel since the Sundering is uncertain at best. Several PCs (Jerod and Solange, Robin, Daeon, and Reid and Brita) have gotten lost in shadow during and after pregaming. We do not guarantee that characters traveling in Shadow can return safely and on schedule to Amber or any other location. The one safe way to ensure arrival at a destination at a specified time is to use a Trump, which has its own set of problems and may not be available for all locations. Once a character moves into shadow, that characters is alone (or alone with the members of the party s/he is traveling with) until s/he has played though back to a major locale such as Amber or Paris. Since there is no guarantee of safe return, we will not allow players to assume that they will return as anticipated and start threads at their intended destination. This comment about shadow travel also applies to moving around in Arden, especially with the disrupted paths and other problems caused by the recent incursion of Artemis. 0 Comments |
