Alternate Castings: Corwin

Corwin is a casting I’m pretty sure I’m happy with. I probably won’t need to recast him three or four times like I probably will Caine and Fi.

That’s George Clooney as Corwin. I saw him in Ocean’s 11 on DVD this weekend, and he just struck me as having a combination of self-centeredness, willing to suffer to achieve goals, and, frankly, jerkishness towards women to make a good Corwin.

The effect is a technique I’ve been working on in Photoshop. Leave the original image intact in the background, add several layers showing at 50% opacity, and filter the different layers. This is the first time I’ve tried it on one of the black-and-white House of Cards-style images and I’m pretty happy with the result.

Yes. Good casting.

Great Photoshop technique. Leaving images below for "acted upon" effects is a method I've been favoring for a while now.

This is also how I get sharp clear eyes in a "painted" translation of image.

Yeah, I love the way his eyes stand out in this picture. I'm going to have to do some more like this.

I like this casting, and the previous Caine casting (I think.)

And I like the image effect, too-- makes me wonder how Ambrose and Brennan would look side by side, with lighting from opposite sides (if I could find an appropriately lit Kiefer picture, which I can't, anyway.)
