Debugging the HOC Blog Template

One of the things I want to do sometime in the relatively near future is to update the templates for the HOC GM log and contributions log. They’re the same template set, so it’s one overhaul.

I’m going to kill a lot of the include templates. Some of them will be moved to separate pages; others will be melded into one larger include template for the sidebar. This should dramatically speed rebuilds of the site.

I’d also like to fix some of the wonkiness with the comments pages, and completely get rid of the javascript popup windows for the comments pages. (What I have in mind is what I’ve done with comments and trackbacks on my own weblog.) We’ll probably start allowing comments and trackbacks to both the GM log and the contributions log as well.

Mind you, the prospect of actually doing the overhaul strikes me as about as much fun as the prospect of a root canal, but I really do want to speed up rebuild times and fix the comment wonkiness. Some of it will have to wait until I have a head on the server, but I don’t want to wait much longer than that.
