Cross-Shadow Trumpingposted by Ginger at 06:50 PM, April 24, 2004 | Filed under : Useful Player Knowledge | Comments and Followups We’ve had a number of people ask us lately whether their character can trump NPC X at any given time, to the point that we’re having to develop a policy for it. Our policy is that anyone can try to trump anyone any time, but since we’re the people who have the best grasp (besides Karen) of who is in what timestream, and we definitely have the best grasp of what will enhance or wreck various storylines, we’re not going to guarantee any trump attempts to NPCs will work. Sometimes we’ll make a decision one way or the other; sometimes it won’t matter and we’ll draw a fortune card for variety. If you’re a PC and you’re not sure whether you should take a trump across shadows because of a time differential (or you secretly don’t want to take the trump), drop the GMs an email off the list and we’ll talk about it. In some cases, the GMs may intervene in desired trump contacts and prevent them from happening for one reason or another! If it’s a case where you have time to wait for the person you want to trump to shake free, you still have to wait for the other party to become available. The GMs do not suggest that you sit around on your rear and wait, as events may happen in your thread without you. Corwin didn’t wait when his trump calls didn’t work out, and neither should you.
