IMC: Literary Inspirations

posted by Ginger at 03:13 PM, April 14, 2004 | Filed under : IMC | Comments and Followups

This is sort of a follow-up to WISH 91.

I’ve recently been rereading the Darkover novels by Marion Zimmer Bradley, and I’m surprised on rereading them, after having left them alone for almost four years, to realize how much they’ve informed my approach to House of Cards and to Amber in general. While I can’t point to very many direct correspondences (for instance, I pretty clearly don’t think of Fiona as a Keeper), I can see a lot of subtle influences and attitudes that creep through.

I doubt I’d have noticed this if I hadn’t come back to the novels after a long hiatus from reading them.
