IMC: Vendettaposted by Ginger at 08:16 PM, February 18, 2005 | Filed under : IMC | Comments and Followups Arref talks about vendettas in his campaign. We don’t seem to have any active PC vendettas in House of Cards right now, although I may need to clarify that with a “yet”. There are some NPC feuds building: Caine-Clarissa and Caine-Madoc come to mind, and the staking out of political turf by Random’s Queen on one side and his Heir Presumptive on the other, but even there they don’t seem to have descended to open bloody violence (again, yet). It’s clear that some of them will turn bloody, though, or are in the process of doing so, particularly those involving the Rebmans and anything involving Dara and Cleph. The fact that we have no PC-PC vendettas is partially a function of campaign design. As GMs, we’ve tried to build strong links between PCs so that even when they’re on opposite sides of an issue, the players will hesitate to take it to violence. We’ve finally made the expectation that PCs won’t kill each other explicit. As Arref comments, though, that doesn’t mean PCs can’t have it in for each other and undermine each other. We expect that to happen. It does means we expect them not to kill other player characters unless they have to.
