IMC: Slaveryposted by Ginger at 02:48 PM, April 28, 2005 | Filed under : IMC , Traveller's Guide to Amber , Traveller's Guide to Chaos | Comments and Followups Arref is discussing slavery in his campaign. This is what we said about slavery in Amber before the Sundering: Amber does not allow slavery within its borders. Under its laws, any man who lives there (legally or otherwise) for ten years and a day is free under Amber law, and can then begin the process of becoming an Amber citizen. Slaves held by foreigners are not automatically freed under Amber law; however, resident foreigners are not permitted to keep slaves. Some slave traffic does pass through Amber, although Amber does not have a slave market of any kind. Ending the Amber slave trade is another favored cause of Amber’s ladies. Nothing has happened to bring slavery to the fore in the game yet. However, in the spirit of Arref’s answer to the question, I’ll mention that affines are slavish and more than slavish in many ways, since their very will is dependent on the emotions of their lord. It’s not clear whether there’s a metaphysical connection between slavery and affinage, or whether that’s simply a coincidence. We were only talking about Amber, weren't we. Big GMly s**t-eating grin! |
