IMC: Fast-Time Shadows

posted by Ginger at 08:39 PM, May 17, 2005 | Filed under : IMC , Traveller's Guide to Shadow | Comments and Followups

In this older IMC, Arref talks about his rules for fast-time shadows.

House of Cards operates on just-in-time time for synchronizing people across shadows, whether it’s by travel or trump. While it’s clear that there are variations in shadow timeflows—for instance, the Asgardian shadows that Reid and Brita lived in for many years are fast compared to Amber, with a best guess of 5:1—there hasn’t been a lot of chasing about in shadow to take advantage of differential timeflows to make Trumps, prepare spells, or even heal. As a result, we don’t have public, formal rules to prevent taking advantage of it, just player knowledge that we’ll allow what we think is reasonable and stomp on what we think isn’t.
