Martin and Merlin: Age in Picturesposted by Ginger at 12:39 PM, November 21, 2005 | Filed under : Casting Call , NPCs | Comments and Followups An image I’m considering replacing the current Merlin image on the web site with is under the cut. This is Ben Affleck when he was about 20, which is close to the right age for Merlin. One of the things that the Affleck-Damon casting of Merlin and Martin has against it is that it tends to make people think of them as being similar ages, when they’re really not supposed to be at all. Martin is significantly older than Merlin both chronologically (to the extent that it’s meaningful) and in terms of life experience. At the same time, I’ve updated the pictures of Martin to show Matt Damon’s more recent appearance, with the shorter hair, which is also reflected in the current image of him on the web site (the one I’ve shown here). This has got to be since Damon cut his hair for Bourne Identity, so he’s at least ten years older than the Affleck picture above, which gives a better idea of what the apparent age difference between the two should be.
