Quotes from Monica…

Different things hit me in different ways… See what I’ve selected as quote worthy below….

Depends on where you put the punctuation, but sounds like a comment on beauty is in the eye of the beholder…
“Really, it seems like the whole theory breaks down in the face of a strong Queen.” Aisling to Conner.

Road Trip!!!
“I’m thinking maybe it’s time for the Soul-Searching Road Trip Of Which All Others Are But Shadows,” Folly to Robin.

Statuary…er, statutory dress…
“Your dress is a monument?” Robin asks with arced eyebrows — there’s that ‘what’ll they think of next’ expression again. But she nods. After all, the construction of Aisling’s attire does owe more to architecture than tailoring.

“The monument says, ‘This better be the fanciest I have to be in the next ten thousand years’,” Aisling says with a grin.

Dissing the castle…
“To the rockpile, then,” she says. “But — maybe we can walk slowly.” Folly to Robin.

Shakespearean Nights…
[The sight of Jerod enjoying himself is probably enough to give Robin real pause when he finally makes his way to her. Any other time she’d avoid Jerod like the plague, he’s got enough files on her as it is without her actually talking to him or anything. But Jerod? Playing? The whole thought boggles the Ranger’s mind.]

Art thou a touch nervous? Of moi?…:)

Thou most assuredly did not speak those scurrilous phrases for Jerod
could not conceive of such things coming from the delightful daughter
of Arden’s defender, and sister to the noble Jovian. Nay indeed one
must believe instead that such could not be the case and instead
consider that another doth intend a deception most foul to convince
Jerod that Robin is thusly motivated by deceit and callous heart.

Nay, tis not so and Jerod shall not fall prey to such enemies as
would seek to poison this most festive of occasions…thus he would
approach, prepared instead to overcome the coldness of suspicion and
fear with a smile and warmth for his cousin.

A piece of what?
Benedict’s smile has faded and he is back to his normal countenance. “Of course. But it is not enough to win a battle if what you wish to win is a war. Or a peace.”

The curse of Interesting Robins… or Times…
“Robin, it may be that for the next ten thousand years you and Random will share this universe. What is important to you will bear on what is important to him.” Aisling smiles, “Plus, you’re interesting. It may be that my view of him is skewed, in that all my observations of him were while he was captive, but I feel that he has a soft spot for interesting people.”

Jerod is always looking forward to vacations…
Llewella: “Will you be accompanying Corwin?”

“One way or the other.” Jerod replies. “It depends on whether the
Grand Imperial Poobah decides to set me up for some work. If he
does, I’ll have to figure out a polite way of ignoring his requests
while getting out of town.”

Crack-pot or Crack-pattern theories…
If my theory is even vaguely close to being correct— or if those caves hold the metalogically consistent object, even— it could solve a whole lot of short term problems for us.”

Only Brennan can toss around phrases like ‘metalogically consistent object’ without sounding like a total crack-pot.

“Brennan, we’re supposed to pretend that we don’t recognize her, ” Cambina scolds mockingly. “Strange indeed this meeting of Fox and Huntress.”

Is it Texas?
“The Garnath stuff was quite recent.” Conner comments. “I am still
surprised it went off with a few snags as it did.” Conner takes a sip
of his drink. “What state was the family in when you left Amber?” He
asks curiously.

“Poltergeist” music playing in the background…
As Jerod looks around the Great Hall, he sees that several of his aunts and uncles have seen Martin’s arrival, but there are no overt reactions that add up to more than “they’re here”.

Spock channels a Chinese Proverb
“And to you Ambassador.” Jerod replies. “You are lovely as always. An enjoyable evening so far?”

Kaia: “One is so seldom at the birth of a new world that it is hardly something that I would call enjoyable, your Highness. ‘Historic’ or ‘Monumental’, or perhaps ‘Fascinating’. I find you learn so much about what matters to a people by watching their ceremonies and rituals, don’t you?”

“Indeed, though I’ve noted frequently that what people show to the
outside world is not always what matters to them, but rather what
they believe the outside world wants to see. Or not to see.” Jerod
says. “One must be careful not to confuse them.”

“Let us hope these historic moments are not…now what was it that my
father said once. Ah yes, something about living in *interesting
times*. I gathered he did not consider it a favorable condition to
be in.”

Tis Folly to dance with Reid
Reid’s dance with Folly. He’d request a tune with an odd time signature where they could both have fun anticipating the beats… most non-musicians would have a hard time keeping up on this tune, and would be left thinking “Where’s one?”

I love you, man. :)

OOC responses to Folly’s Reid Dance
I shudder to think of the effects of “improvisation” during, for example, a sheepskin hey…

The GMs did say we were mostly doing set and round dances, not couple
dances, no?

—Rikibeth
[waiting for the partner-poaching chaos to erupt during “Hole in the Wall”… ]

I picture those two, for instance, grabbing the person they are supposed to be passing during a hey by the waist and spinning them rapidly once and a half about, setting both of them back into the hey in opposite directions….

LoggerGirl snaps…
And not just the GMs! MadLoggerGirl (aka the Continuity Police)
mucho muchly appreciates your collective efforts to keep things
moving in an Orderly Fashion (this is Amber, after all!) so she
doesn’t have to sort out bizarro chronological snarls later.
Remember, in the event of a water landing, the nearest NPC may be
used as a flotation device. Please keep arms and legs inside the
vehicle until it comes to a full and complete stop. Don’t Make Me
Come Over There.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Dancing Like Crazed
Weasels (or the avoidance thereof).
