Paris photography

I added as one of Reid’s Paris acquaintances a celebrity portraitist of the time, Nadar. He was really the Andy Warhol of his age.

When doing some research on cameras of the era, I came across this wonderful stereo camera, which inspired me to name Nadar’s assistant Papillon. This keeps with Everway naming, too, because Papillon is French for Butterfly. The fact that I cast Drew Barrymore as the character, and that Drew has a butterfly tattoo, is purely coincidental. Really. Honest. (Though if you want to see the type of pictures I’d love to be taking, check out some of Mark Seliger’s portraits of Drew in the Rolling Stone photo archives…)
