I have, over the past decade or so, read many whining rants about how insular comics fans can be. I have to say two things to this, 1) last year I had occasion to bring a complete outsider to a comic book convention and she didn't feel as though people were hostile to her, and 2) I happened across this link and all I have to say is that comics afficiandos have nothing on fashionistas in terms of making outsiders feel welcome.
