Oh, It's Gonna Be Clobberin' Time, All Right...

by Chris M.

I am pleased to announce that I'll be running a couple of four-hour Marvel Super-Heroes RPG sessions (the classic 80's rules) at OwlCon in Houston next February (the 9th through the 11th, in fact). My sessions will both run from 8pm to midnight, Friday and Saturday. Here are the blurbs:

Infinite Secret Crisis: Alpha

A team of famous Marvel and DC villains bent on inter-universe domination have captured the most powerful heroes of both worlds! Can the heroes’ comrades-in-arms find and save them –- and stop the bad guys -– before it’s too late? Play great Marvel and DC superheroes like Batman, Spider-Man, the Flash, and Captain America in this Classic Marvel Super-Heroes RPG adventure. We’ll use HeroClix miniatures to bring the fast and furious action to life. Join us for a world-spanning supervillain smackdown – Marvel and DC style!

Infinite Secret Crisis: Omega

The most powerful heroes of the Marvel and DC universes are now trapped in a warped reality. Can they escape and battle their way across worlds and through an army of their most powerful opponents in time to save both universes? Play great Marvel and DC superheroes like Superman, Thor, Green Lantern, Iron Man, and the Silver Surfer in this Classic Marvel Super-Heroes RPG adventure. We’ll use HeroClix miniatures to bring the fast and furious action to life. Join us for a reality-spanning supervillain smackdown – Marvel and DC style!

As you can probably tell, the second session is a continuation of the story from the first, but each session features a completely different set of heroes and villains so you can play either session or both. I'm really excited about doing this, and it's going to be a lot of fun.

I should also mention that Steve Long of Hero Games is the Guest of Honor and will be running Champions, Pulp Hero, and Fantasy Hero sessions. Also, our very own Greg Morrow will be running his famous and extremely popular miniatures-based Dungeons and Dragons Master Maze Tournament, which I am hoping to get into if I can.

If you can get to Houston for February 9th through the 11th, come on down and join in. Preregistration is now open, so you can prereg online.

I hope to see you there!

Yay classic 80's Marvel Super-Heroes RPG. Your planned sessions sound like a lot of fun. I prolly won't be able to make it, but had to woo! at the idea. I'm running an Exiles campaign and love to see others still using the old system.

Thanks!

There's a surprisingly active fan community for the game online (as linked to above). I always liked it as a simpler, faster-paced, slam-bang alternative to Champions (which was and still is my favorite RPG of all time). The thing that's nice about the Classic Marvel system is that you can have a table full of complete RPG novices and have them up and competently and confidently running Spider-Man and Batman in like 30 minutes.
