Yeah, I'm with you there. The trio of villains mentioned in the linked-to piece is making my "Batman and Robin" sense go off.

At least Lizard is old school Spidey. ANd Black Cat is, I suppose. Really, for the current movie we should have had Lizard, Electro and Mysterio. And by the next movie we should have Kraven, Scorpy and the Spider-slayer run by Jonah. We need a good Jonah movie.

Picking random villains doesn't work. What is needed is a good plot that plausibly allows multiple villains to be involved. Ideally, they could be divided into the "mastermind" behind the plan (Kingpin, Green Goblin taking over the gangs, Doc Ock organizing the Sinister Six, Mysterio, the Rose, Chameleon, etc.) who fights the hero with his mind, the "heavy" who outguns Spidey (Scorpion, Sandman, Hobgoblin working with the Rose) who fights him with his fist, and the "wild card" who may help or hurt the hero (Black Cat, Kraven, Punisher, Prowler, etc.)

This fits multiple villains into ONE plotline, not multiple storylines which bog the story down.

I would also recommend dispensing with the elaborate villain origin. We didn't need to know how Dark Vader became Vader in the first Star Wars, or why the bad guy in Chuck Norris movies hates America. A perfunctory introduction is all that is needed. I think people can accept superpowers without explanation (did it ever come up why Mr Incredible has powers?) especially when it comes to established franchises.

Spiderman 6: Mysterio/Radioactive sperm/Kitty Pryde.

I am campaigning for Lizard, Scorpion and Mysterio in #4.

Scorpion turns up at the beginning of the movie, breaks into Conners lab while Peter and Conners is there to try and steal the symbiote, Conners gets knocked out and Spiderman beats Scorpion.

This sets Conners off on wanting to regrow his arm because of how he got manhandled by Scorpion, thus setting it up for him to turn into the Lizard.

Bruce Campbell as Mysterio turns up after this and whacky hijinks ensue - possibly involving MJ as an actress in his movie (like in the cartoons).

At the end of the movie you see Scorpion in jail starting to transform into Gargan-Venom from the tiny bit of the symbiote he managed to steal from the lab.

Alternatively, Peter and Conners in the lab at the beginning would also set things up for Carnage to appear (Ultimates style) from the mixing of Spiderman DNA and the symbiote.

Kraven comes to town to hunt the Lizard and winds up hunting Spider-Man instead.

Who are we kidding.

It's going to be Booby Ultron.
