I'm a day late posting this, and goddamit if Bo Diddley didn't up and die on us. What can I say about Bo Diddley? Without him, there is no rock and roll, and nothing that derived from Rock and Roll either. Most artists have borrowed his famous Bo Diddley beat, if not outright covered his stuff. Hell, you could make a whole career out of just immitating Bo (just ask ZZ Top or George Thorogood, to pick two examples). The punks reminded us that you could make some great music with just 3 chords, but long before that, Bo was doing it with just one.
Anyway, my favorite Bo Diddley song is probably "Who Do You Love," but I couldn't find a version on YouTube that really showcased Bo Diddley's abilities. So no lyric this week, just a video of Bo Diddley being Bo Diddley.
