The 2008 Harveys were announced on Saturday night at the Baltimore Comic-Con. The winners (lifted from The Beat, because, as of Monday afternoon when I'm writing this, the Harvey Awards site hasn't been updated yet) are listed after the jump. To see the context for the full nominations, click on either of the above links.

Best writer: I can't stand Y, but Vaughan deserves credit for bringing his vision to completion. If I were to give him a Harvey for anything, it would be Ex Machina, but that's not gonna happen.
Best artist: I have a response to this, but I'll tell you in three months, double spaced.
Oh, what the hell: as talented as Vince Deighan is, he was clearly bored as hell with this thing and cheated as much with negative space as possible. He's worthy of this award, but he sure as hell doesn't deserve it.
Best Cartoonist: Cooke's The Spirit was very good.
Best OGN and Reprint: Good but not THAT good file.
Foreign reprint: No arguments here, that's a boss collection.
Online comic and Humor: double bullseye.
Best letterer, syndicated strip, new talent, new series: Good choices all.
Best Inker: Now, I have no problem with this, really, but how fucking sad is it that the most prominent presence kevin Nowlan had in the past year was inking a fucking Ron Marz comic?
My congratulations to the winners for finding an appreciative audience. However, this list of winners has only random correspondences with my sense of quality and is of no use to me.
