Levitz and Creators' Rights

by Greg

As I've said before, Paul Levitz is a mensch. Because of him, Len Wein gets a cut of Christopher Nolan's movies because Morgan Freeman plays a character that Len created, as recounted in this interview.

Via a good retrospective of Paul Levitz's career, via Brad Guigar's Evil, Inc. comic strip.

In the meantime, Wein's not seeing anything from his creation Wolverine. It's pretty sad when a guy in a suit is more profitable to a creator than one of the most popular characters in comics history.

Levitz and DiDio deserve a lot of credit for kicking work the way of writers who are in financial straits, like Wein, Steve Gerber, and John Ostrander.
