Michael Croft's Home Page
You've found my page, which is a sort of "about the author" section for the pages that I do in support of real work or interesting hobbies.
I've worked in the software industry since 1994, doing every technical thing one can do without programming. I've done Human Interface Design, Technical Writing, Tech Support, Quality Assurance, Release Engineering, and even production and fulfillment. I've worked for three software companies in the Houston, Texas area: Kaetron Software, Citadel Computer Systems, and Dealer Solutions.
![]() | I spent two years running (and building) the QA group at Dealer Solutions. Recently the application development team asked me to take the role of Configuration Manager. Recently Dealer Solutions was purchased by ADP. Coincidence? Yeah, probably. I hear they liked some of the materials that I made which my boss showed them, though... | ![]() |
![]() | I studied at Southwestern University in beautiful Georgetown, Texas. I have degrees in History and English Literature (perfect training for the above mentioned job(s)) with an emphasis on Tudor/Stewart colonialism. I read quite a bit of Irish and Scottish history, but am limited by the somewhat random nature of US bookstores stocking of obscure foreign histories. Current historical interests (subject to change at whim) include Irish 20th Century, Islamic Spain, and Viking Ireland. |
| Ginger and I run Whiterose.org. Whiterose is an internet domain run from our Apple Power Macintosh 6100/60 with Stairways Software's shareware web server NetPresenz. Stalker Software's freeware mailserver, SIMS is used to handle our mail. | ![]() |
![]() | I am a fan of live Celtic music, and many of my favorite bands are local, such as SixMileBridgeand Clandestine. They play often at my favorite bar, McGonigel's Mucky Duck. The Duck also has many great touring acts. Check out their calendar and go see a show!
Since most of my friends can be found through the Round Table homepage, I won't spend a lot of time pointing them out. The only person who gets special mention on my page is my wonderful girlfriend, Ginger. What can I say? She's smart and funny and a gamer and has a masters in medieval history from Rice and listens to celtic music and is attactive and in general is exactly whom I would have been looking for if I'd been looking for a girlfriend when I met her. I consider myself very lucky to have her in my life.
I have spent much time at Third Stone Studios in Houston, . We have recorded the last two Ceili's Muse albums: (Ceili's Muse Live...Muse Secret #73 and The Dark Lady) and Gordian Knot's album (A Midsummer Knot's Dream) there. LooseGooserecords albums for BlarneyFest 95 and Son of BlarneyFest 96 were recorded live and mixed at Third Stone. I used to work at the Texas Rennaissance Festival as an actor. This is a picture of me in my English Civil War Cavalier outfit. If you ever wonder what the people who design and test software look like, here's one answer... Comments? Questions? I receive mail as michael@whiterose.org Heck, I even answer it from there... |
