The Unlock Message

PerversionTracker, a site dedicated to finding the worst Mac software every day is on my daily reading list. So many good examples of bad design and implementation. Today they posted a browser limited to Perversion Tracker. Very useless, indeed. They also issued a challenge. Find the secret unlock key and navigate to any descriptive scientific paper regarding badgers. OK, I shall take their LUCKY PRIZE. The key is to force PT Bruiser to navigate to http://www.mcoffey.com/ptbruiser/unlock.html. The toolbar About button loads "index.html" from the package, which is where it is possible to find that little tidbit of information. Of course, right clicking on the app and viewing package contents allows you to see and edit index.html. Put a link to the unlock page in the about page, run the app, view the about page, click your new link, and Bob's your uncle. Proof that I did this and didn't just modify a screenshot: The unlock preference doesn't stick! I'd ask PerersionTracker to split the proposed usefullness difference from their proposed -1.2 to a -0.6

That's McLean Ancient Hunting, my friend. Dark Green with a black stripes and white stripes in a major/minor grid pattern. It's a beautiful old family tartan and it was what I had my wedding kilt made from.

It actually works pretty well as a desktop.
