Voice IM
December 28, 2003 Audio Video
I just tried out Apple's iChat AV with my dad in Dallas. Voice chatting over the computer is fun. I think it'll be our preferred way of talking to the family. I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a camera popping of the top of a computer or two in the near future, either. One of the cool things about Apple software is the "cool! I didn't know I wanted to do that!" factor...

Just curious, because way back in the day I gave one of those a try and it didn't work out really well..if only I could remember the name of the service..
In any event, it was years ago, and I was just curious, is the clarity really just like that of a telephone??

Yes, it was very clear. Now both my father and I have the same phone company based DSL provider (my wife's laptop picks up network settings at their house w/o changing location settings), so we may have some advantages.

BTW: It's my policy not to advertise services, even in the links in comments. Your comments will show up as WSHC.
