Blogroll weirdness

Posted by pete at November 17, 2003 10:24 AM

I don't know who Laura is, or what her blog's about, but I have pulled my blogroll until Jason over at Blogrolling.com figures out what the hey is going on. If this message doesn't make any sense to you, it's probably for the best.

UPDATE: Blogrolling.com was hacked this morning. What makes the episode even more idiotic is that the link (Laura's Blog) repeated in everyone's hacked blogroll doesn't appear to go anywhere.

UPDATE the second: Okay, now it's back. Move along, nothing to see here. As usual.

Oh, but it *did* go somewhere! It linked to Laura's blog (which I can't seem to find now).

Apparently a whole bunch of people were yelling at her about how she had hacked the blogroll, and she was denying it. It had gotten so bad that her husband (Tim?) had written a post threatening to contact The Authorities to get people to stop flaming his wife.

Personally, I think she was an innocent dupe in all this.

Curious. Of course, you would have to be pretty dumb to pull a stunt like this and link to your own weblog, so the "dupe" theory sounds accurate.

It's a good thing that blogroll is back up, young man! this fiasco was interfering with my ability to use Pete's blog as a portal site for all my mutant friends' blogs!

Blogrolling.com was hacked and the link database was replaced with link's to one person's weblog, though it appears the person in question had nothing to do with the hack.
