"Your mother owns stock in Shell!"

Or words to that effect.

Once again, there's a movie coming out this weekend that wasn't screened in advance for critics. That movie is Exorcist: The Beginning. Saw it last night. Review's up today in the usual place (i.e. Film Threat).

It seems I didn't hate it as much as many reviewers did, which essentially means I didn't pan it. Given your other options, I'd go see Open Water, myself.

i'd like to strongly recommend Garden State. oh, how i love it.

According to your review, Lankester Merrin is "a hard-drinking former priest". In The Exorcist he is, of course, the title character, and still is a Jesuit priest.

If you don't consider it a spoiler, does Exorcist: The Beginning show or explain how Merrin returns to his priestly status? Or is this Yet Another Continuity Error?

The movie does indeed show Merrin returning to the priesthood.
