Lighten up, Frances

Posted by pete at September 1, 2004 11:04 PM

I've been hearing from my family about the destruction Charley left behind a few weeks ago, now it looks like Frances could be even worse. Grandmom in Ft. Myers should, if current forecasts hold, escape the brunt of this one. But people on the eastern coast of Florida need to get the hell out of Dodge.

Hopefully my friend Mac and his family (situated on the upper Florida coast) have already packed up the family truckster and are on their way to Kentucky with all speed.

Thanks for your thoughts Pete. I was just shocked that a hurricane this powerful ended up with such a metro sexual name. We've got charcoal, beer, ice and diapers so we're just gonna ride it out. Hopefully the post Hugo building codes will hold.

For those who wonder why we just don't get out of here. With the traffic coming in from further south, it can take over 6 hours at this point to even get out of the area...with 3 little ones, no beer, and traffic stress, I figure everyone is safer here. Hope everyone out there stays safe.

Good luck, man. Keep those mojitos flowing.

Pete, I have a feeling no hurricane on earth would mess with your Grandmom.

As big as this storm is, it looks like everyone in Florida will get something. Best of luck to all.
