If you ever have occasion to travel to New York in October, I highly recommend it. The weather is great, the fall foliage is just starting to turn, and I can't think of anyplace else where you can still spot the elusive Members Only jacket in significant numbers.
Some of you may find yourself attending a family gathering of some sort, perhaps a wedding. And having spend the better part of the afternoon/evening at said ceremony and the reception, you may find yourself inquiring among the locals at a bar about the outcome of the day's earlier baseball games. The correct response to their bellowed chorus of "Yankees!" (or, more correctly, "Yan-KEES!") is not, "Fuck the Yankees, what about the Astros game?"
Trust me on this.
Because I spent Friday and the early part of Saturday in various Long Island area bathrooms vowing never to eat solid food again.
I got in Thursday night, The Wife had family crap on Friday, then the rehearsal dinner, then wedding Saturday afternoon. We left around noon on Sunday. I promise all my New York friends we will make a trip up there at some point that doesn't involve a matrimonial itinerary.
Hah. I myself was up there earlier in the week, and you are absolutely right about this being a great time of year to visit the Apple.
When will they be removing the body cast, Mr. Astros Fan?
And where on the Island were you? Just exercisin' my 'satiable curtiosity.
Marge: Next to Spring and Winter, Fall is my absolute favorite season. Just look at all this beautiful foilage.
Lisa: It's not "foilage," Mom, it's "foliage." Fo-liage.
Marge: That's what I said, foilage. It doesn't take a nuclear scientist to pronounce foilage.
Heh, that must have been playing in my mind last night when I wrote this.
We'll be pleased to see you when you make it up for a visit. The weather was friggin' great this weekend.
So Pete, how many teeth DID you lose? :)
P.S. You're sooooo right about NY in Fall. I've been crying myself to sleep thinking about the beautiful colors I'm NOT enjoying because I'm not there. Woe is me.
Steve, I'm a rude bastard, the wedding was in Northport.
October is the best time of the year to be in NYC. Cool days, lots of sunshine.
Glad u enjoyed it
And you didn't get hold of us why?
