Astros vs. Cardinals

So Houston finally wins an NLDS and will travel to St. Louis Wednesday to face the Cards for the pennant. Bummer.

Don't get me wrong. I'm happy Houston finally won a postseason series. Another loss and I'm afraid Biggio and Bagwell might've committed joint hara-kiri (even if both have played quite well thus far). I just liked St. Louis' chances against Atlanta's weak pitching and anemic offense. The 'stros likely won't be able to use Clemens or Oswalt until Game 3, which is something, and their middle relief is - to put it politely - craptastic. They're peaking at the right time, however. The Cards' starting pitching has been solid, but has the benefit of hiding behind a modern day Murderer's Row. I'd still take Clemens and Oswalt over Marquis and Carpenter, or Morris and Williams, any day.

Either way, it should be a hell of a series. I'm going to futilely scrounge for a playoff ticket now. Congrats, Astros.

A large part of the Cardinals success this year, as I see it, is that we've gotten a surprising number of quality starts from the rotation, and some great support in the bullpen, which basically has kept the Cardinals close enough that Larry Pujedmolen can break out, beat up on the opposition pitching, and put about a gazillion runs on the scoreboard. Putting up Houston's pitching against our Murderer's Row looked interesting even before the 'stros had to diddle with their starting rotation to survive the NLDS.

At least you live in Houston. Think of what it's like trying to scrounge playoff tickets in St. Louis when you live in Memphis.

The Astros have a great chance here.....the Cards pitching is less than great (to be kind), and the Killer B's are hot.

It's nice to see Biggio and Bagwell break through in the post season

The Jinx
There's all the talk about the jinx and the Boston Red Sox, but it's easy to argue that we've got 'em beat here in Texas. The Texas Rangers have played in Arlington for 33 years. Number of playoff series won?......
