I am sure, in the miserable annals of the Earth, they will be duly enshrined.

It's a start, I guess:

Moonstone Publishing has announced they've acquire the rights to the character Buckaroo Banzai, the star of the 1984 cult-classic "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension" starring Peter Weller in the title role.

[From the press release]Moonstone's new book will be a new tale of Buckaroo written by the character's very own creator (and the movie's screenwriter) Earl Mac Rauch!

The interior art will be handled by ("Star Wars") Stephen Thompson. (The cover art is TBA)

With the guidance of the film's director, W.D. Richter, the Buckaroo Banzai color mini series will continue the bizarre trail blazed by the film.

We Banzai fans will take what we can get, of course. After the movie tanked at the box office and Sherwood Studios went bankrupt, it threw some cold water on plans for Buckaroo Banzai vs. the World Crime League. Much as we'd like them to, film companies don't make motion pictures for a handful of geeks. Otherwise we would've had a Blake's 7 trilogy by now.

Meanwhile, that wacky zebra racing movie - starring David Spade as a rapping housefly and Jeff Foxworthy as a rooster - opens this weekend. And me resolving to put off that B-actor killing spree for another year.

Even though a comic will be good fun, I actually enjoyed Rauch's book for the amount of backstory and character info it contained. Maybe Moonstone is testing the waters for a monthly series or some new novels. If so, they can count on this monkey boy's support. Especially considering I saw the movie in the theater about 15 times.

Thanks to that Man-Walkin' Thing Guy.

Didn't Fred Ward play Buckaroo Banzai in the original film?

You're thinking of Remo Williams.

Hey, look at that.

Ah ha, it's all coming back to me. So, which film did this line come from,"Remember, no matter where you go, there you are."? Was that from Remo or Banzai?
