The movie reviewer faces many choices in life, usually brought on by films screening at the same time. For example, this week I had to decide whether to check out The Interpreter or Ashton Kutcher's latest. I went with the former (my review is here).
Next week, I have to choose between Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy and xXx: State of the Union. That's a tough one.
Seriously, anybody want a pass to State of the Union?
Actually, I kinda liked the first triple-x but I really just like Vin Deisel. I don't think the next one will be as good, in that "so bad it's good" kinda way.
Read your review of The interpreter, and I don't know about everyone else, but your supossition that other reviewers would give it a thumbs up is not quite on. The New York Times today panned the film. The reviewer made an astute comment: why is it when Hollywood wants to protray the plight of Africa it's always through the eyes of a blond white woman?

My supposition was actually that many reviewers would call the film "intelligent," which many of them have.
But your point is taken. I try not to look at other reviews until I've written mine.
Uh,no. No, I do not want a pass to "State of the Union." I'll be at "HHGTTG," as well.
DON'T PANIC!
