Stop. You're breaking my heart:
Q Scott, I mean, just -- I mean, this is ridiculous. The notion that you're going to stand before us after having commented with that level of detail and tell people watching this that somehow you decided not to talk. You've got a public record out there. Do you stand by your remarks from that podium, or not?
MR. McCLELLAN: And again, David, I'm well aware, like you, of what was previously said, and I will be glad to talk about it at the appropriate time. The appropriate time is when the investigation --
Q Why are you choosing when it's appropriate and when it's inappropriate?
MR. McCLELLAN: If you'll let me finish --
Q No, you're not finishing -- you're not saying anything. You stood at that podium and said that Karl Rove was not involved. And now we find out that he spoke out about Joseph Wilson's wife. So don't you owe the American public a fuller explanation? Was he involved, or was he not? Because, contrary to what you told the American people, he did, indeed, talk about his wife, didn't he?
MR. McCLELLAN: David, there will be a time to talk about this, but now is not the time to talk about it.
Q Do you think people will accept that, what you're saying today?
MR. McCLELLAN: Again, I've responded to the question.
And it goes on like this.
I understand many people are rah rah-ing the Press Corps and their dogged pursuit of the truth about Karl Rove's involvement in Valerie Plame's outing as an undercover agent. We in Texas have known about Mr. Rove's capacity for scumbaggery and black bag politcal ops for some time (anyone heard from Mark White lately?), but don't let that take away from the fact that a number of people across our great nation would love to see that sneaky little bastard go down in flames (even if this all seems like waaaaaay too much of a hanging curveball for my liking).
But let's not be too hasty forgiving the White House Press Corps, that bastion of Administration apologia for the last five years, for playing yes-men to the White House's unending stream of BS about yellowcake uranium and Iraq's connection to 9-11. It might've been nice if they'd grown a spine some time before March, 2003.
It's nice to know that Rove has the confidence of the White House and Mclellan acknowledges that all people working at the White House have their confidence. Of course Rove has Bush's confidence! Anybody that'll screw over the people who disagree with God's chosen get what they deserve. What they really seem to be saying is that it's perfectly cool to commit an act of treason (setting up a CIA operative and putting her in danger) as long as it's in our best interest. People who do that have our confidence. What an F-in' joke.
On the other hand, don't lie about having sexual relations with an intern...that's an inpardonable.
As usual, it's a woman (Judith Miller) who has the biggest balls! She's no saint, but few msm-types wanted to take this story on until she went to jail for refusing to roll over and talk to the Feds like that Momma's boy weasel news guy What's 'is Name.
I share your skepticism.
The right is already trying to work the "It's not that big a deal. Everybody knew who she was" and "this is a typical liberal witch hunt because they have no plan for America other than hating replublicans".
I can't believe something like this is going to get rid of him. Either he will obviously slip the noose (although I have no idea how) or he will resign but never leave.
I'd love to see him do time.
I'd like to see him keel hauled then put in the Stocks outside the White House so I can throw shit at his melon head and wipe the smirk off his face.
P.S. Was that too mean? :)
