I admit to not being hip like Adam Curry, so I'm still a bit ignorant on the subject of podcasting. If I understand correctly, it's basically syndicating audio files using RSS, allowing listeners to periodically check for new audio content from whatever sources they've subscribed to. Kinda like blogs, but more annoyingly intrusive.
This comes up because there are some preliminary talks to do podcasts on Film Threat when the new site launches (Real Soon Now). I'm up for it, mostly because I love the sound of my own voice, but one problem seems to be analogous to that of blogs: how the hell do you choose what you want to listen to? And how do you distinguish yourself from the metric assload of podcasts already out there?
Personally, I can't imagine sitting through someone else's playlist noodling, but I'm also the kind of person who changes radio stations about 20 times in 2 minutes. Editorializing and things like movie or music reviews might be fun, but - and I'm all too aware of this - not everyone knows how to take something that's humorous in written form and make it out loud funny.
And I sincerely hope I figure it out before the FT thing gets off the ground.
Woo! I got it! the new photo is from "parts:the clonus horror." And the riff was "Dr. Darren and Professor Super Mario Brother."
One of my top 5 mST3k eps.
Possibly even #1.
The whole concept reminds me of a combo of two of my least favorite activities: a) watching anyone do ANYTHING on a computer because they wanted to show me something, and b) listening to someone shuffle through a CD because they're sure I'll like something on it sooner or later.
Solution: send me a link and lend me a disc.

Got it in one. My "homage" to The Island, as it were.
I started podcasting my political (and other) humor about a month ago and I'm having a blast. There are lots of podcast directories where you can sample before you subscribe (or at least get a sense from the description whether a podcast is likely to appeal to you.)
On of the better directories is the one at Apple's itunes.com. It's a bit more selective. Then again, it lists me under politics, so maybe not.
itunes.com podcast directory does have a movies and television podcast section, so be sure to submit your podcast for inclusion, once you have a few podcasts under your belt.
Oh, and by the way, podcast grabbers/subscribers/players require a download. (At least all the ones I know of do.) The one at itunes asks for your credit card because the same software download enables you to buy songs. But don't worry, the podcasts are free.
Good luck with this. It's a lot of fun to add audio and podcasts to a site.
Bring a digital voice recorder into the movie theater with you and record your reaction to various scenes as the movie plays. I think the whispered comments with the booming theater sound coming in the background would be pretty cool. So you don't get caught, you can disguise the recorder as any number of the humonormous boxes of candy they offer at concessions. You can sign off with the sound of the restroom door opening and shutting and then a zip of the zipper.
