King Kong review is up. I gave it a pretty glowing write-up, in spite of some pacing problems and some goofy shit that could've been left on the cutting room floor, because I enjoyed the hell out of it.
Giant monkeys while not quite as cool as zombies, are still pretty damn cool.
Could we at least zombify the giant monkeys?
Just got back from it. FUCKING WOW. In regards to whether or not Kong is 'believable', let's just say we have come a VERY long way from Jar Jar.
I was blown away by the emotional impact of the film, squarely due to the performances of Naomi Watts and, yes, Kong. In fact, I'm not ashamed to admit that I teared up at the end and just about lost my composure completely, and I heard quite a few sniffles in the audience around me.
As for Skull Island, Jackson has officially out-Spielberg'ed Spielberg.
"I'd rather go to Candy Apple Island."
"What do they have there?"
"Apes. But they're not as big."
Thanks to the Simpsons for my favorite parody of King Kong, 'King Homer'.
It's a wonderful homage to a great classic. Still, too much gaping and not enough aping.
Time out. You liked a movie that didn't involve zombies?
