The marketing wizards at General Motors are having a contest where people can design their own Chevy Tahoe commercials. Needless to say, it's kinda backfiring on them.
Examples here, here, and here.
Check 'em out while you can, as I doubt they're going to be left online very long.

er, that was supposed to be terribly funny, but terribly works too.
On the one hand, you have to give Chevrolet some credit for letting folks build their own commercials for the Chevy Tahoe. Open-source advertising! On the other hand, you really want to believe that those high-powered automobile marketers expected that......

WOW. Yet more proof that the ivory tower dwelling advertisers and corporate hounds are completely out of step with the mindset of the propaganda deluged public. WE SEE THROUGH THE GREED FEULED GAMBITS AND LIES, TOADIES. I think this is terrific. I wonder if the wizards at Chevy will air these or simply revise history and say the contest never really existed.
Just one more thing. My son was in Austria recently for the 250th anniversary celebration of Mozart's birth. I asked him what he remembers the most from his trip. He said he enjoyed several things but he especially loved Graz because of its cobblestone streets and the fact that he could WALK everywhere in the city. The roads were designed for foot traffic, not vehicles (except bikes).
I don't know who's outta touch with who, but have you seen the pricing on the new Tahoes? It is AWESOME! Trying to decide between the Navigator and the Tahoe is tougher than ever! Navigator's are harder to handle in traffic and the suspension is a little mushy but you can't beat the room. But still, the Tahoe with 4X4 and the tow package with V8 upgrade is still tugging at my heart strings. Off to the Powerboat show!
I'm disappointed in you, Macinfla.
If you're gonna sell out to Big Oil, at least shill a REAL American vehicle, like the Canyonero.
Everyone knows the Canyonero is a girl's car...

I work for one of the world's biggest ad agencies. When we heard about the Chevy idea we immediately thought, they are so fucked.
They're not just out of touch with people, they're out of touch with technology. How could they not have realized that parodies and politics would get much more buzz on the web than any earnest commercial made by a consumer?
This is my favorite so far.
This is a terribly campaign.
