Disgruntled

Posted by pete at April 14, 2006 12:07 PM

No reviews this week. Neither The Wild nor Scary Movie 4 screened for the press in Houston. Actually, I take that back...SM4 screened for print media, but not "internet critics." I've snuck into these screenings before, and will again, but didn't feel like hassling with it this time.

As you're all probably aware, this is a growing trend for studios. Rather than attempt to replicate my disgust here, I'll simply point you to my latest column, running today on Film Threat:

Hollywood Hates You

Have a good weekend. Don't go see Scary Movie 4.

It shouldn't be "Hollywood Hates You." It should be, "Hollywood Knows Just How Many of You are Stupid and Shallow, and They Love You For It." What's the motivation to struggle over art, when on any given week the top two shows on TV are both American Idol? You know, the show where after weeks of competition, we finally find out which one is good enough to be on the radio, a medium saved for only the best talent. Until the average moviegoer is smarter than the average movie writer, we're gonna get a bunch more Scary Movies.

What's with the Nick Lachey hatin'?
He was brilliant on that show as what's her names husband.

Alan, without american idol we'd never get one of the great lines from 40 year old virgin

"RRIIIPP"
"Kelly Clarkson!!"

It does have some merit

Fantastic piece!
I occasionally think I can write until I read column, then I hang my head in shame.

And your point, I think, is dead on. I would love to see this get really wide circulation.
Can you get CNN to link to it?
Fark?
MetaFilter?
Post it above the urinals at megacinemaplexes?
