I like the [Uwe] you move

I'm relieved ashamed to admit I wasn't aware of this:

Time for rejoicing is here! Fangoria is coming to Austin, Texas for the very first time with their WEEKEND OF HORRORS spectacular. Panels and events happen during the day at the Renaissance Hotel at the Arboretum.

In the evening, festival attendees will get free admission to the Fangoria event screenings at the Alamo Drafthouse Village. A very limited number of tickets will also be available to the general public. We encourage all local horror hounds to head out to the conference and support Fangoria in their first ever visit to our town.

About the movie:
Join the inimitable Uwe Boll live in person for a screening of his newest horror opus SEED. The story of an unkillable mass murderer who survives electrocution, claws his way from the grave and wreaks bloody revenge, SEED is notorious on the festival circuit for pushing the envelope of bloody bad taste. Are you a serious gorehound ready for a test? Check out SEED and what is sure to be a lively Q&A with Germany's most irascible pugilist director.

The lovely and talented Melanie at Boxing Octopus sent me a heads-up for this, but I have previous engagements (and I'm still stockpiling karma for SXSW in a couple months).

Besides, I can't even begin to think of questions to ask Der Guten Herr Doktor. But I'll try:

"How are you dealing with the changes to German financing laws?"
"What's Sir Ben Kingsley really like?"
"You wanna step outside?"
"Do you have Kristanna Loken's number?"

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to dig out that bootleg copy of BloodRayne.

I am embarrassed (?) to say that I did not know there’d been a Bloodrayne II, but IMDB’s plot synopsis deserves to be reprinted here:

“Rayne, the half-human/half-vampire warrior, ventures to America’s 1880’s Wild West to stop the vampired Billy the Kid and his posse of vampire cowboys.”

I’ve seen little of Boll’s oeuvre aside from Bloodrayne, but a posse of vampire cowboys? That may need to be seen.

That may need to be seen.

It’s, uh, better than House of the Dead. That’s about all I can say. Michael “Eddie and the Cruisers” Pare as Pat Garrett is hard to beat, however.

While getting to meet Bill Lustig would be a treat, the Fango cons are lacking when compared to others in that genre.

And Texas has TWO upcoming cons that’ll knock this one out of the park—Texas Frightmare Weekend III (http://www.texasfrightmareweekend.com/lifetype/) at the end of February, and FearFest 2 (http://www.txfearfest.com/) at the beginning of March. At the latter, there’s a Nightmare of Elm Street reunion (with John Muthafuckin’ Saxon, no less!), and I’m gonna have Robert Englund sign my photo-jacket for the 12”-single version of his duet with the Fat Boys, “Are You Ready For Freddy?” I’m CERTAIN he’ll be proud of that relic!

The Woman does the horror-con circuit, and she’s got some great stories about a drunken Sid Haig accosting some waitresses, and an even more drunk—and more naked—Joe Pilato bellowing at passersby from his hotel balcony. And we both did Frightmare last year, and we’ve got a pic with Jeffrey Combs…who, at the last moment, stretched up on his tip-toes so as to appear taller than The Woman in the shot!
