Pope Benedict XVI has said that saving humanity from homosexual or transsexual behaviour is just as important as saving the rainforest from destruction.
He explained that defending God's creation is not limited to saving the environment, but also protecting man from self-destruction.

Okay, first: you're not really allowed to use the word "ecology" if you're the head of an institution that rejects natural selection and the most basic tenets of evolutionary theory, both of which play pretty heavily into the concept of ecosystems and biodiversity.
Second, the "gay threat" comes in at about, oh, 750th on the list of things that are going to wipe out mankind. Among those ranking higher: global climate change, the increasing scarcity of water resources, "Captain Trips," Ming the Merciless, C.H.U.D.s, and genetically engineered dinosaurs running amok.
The Catholic Church opposes gay marriage. It teaches that while homosexuality is not sinful, homosexual acts are.
Which, when you think about it, is pretty much a total reversal of their position regarding pedophilia.
I can imagine it, Jeff. The Catholic Church has been open to the idea of evolution since the 1950’s, and now officially embraces it. Those old stick-in-the-muds in Rome officially believe in a 15 billion year old universe, the Big Bang Theory, microscopic life on Earth 3.5 billion years ago, and the gradual evolution of life to form everything you see today at the zoo, including people.

On the other hand, the Holy See has been mysteriously silent on the issue of Ming the Merciless. Ominous.
The Destruction of The Earth and Perversion of Spirit ;-(
Simply, so-called “progress” is destroying the earth(land, air, water, vegetation, creatures) and perverting that which is Spirit(Light, Life, Truth, Love, Peace, Hope, Grace, Miracles, Faith, etc.) ;-(
Postings have been made at TheDestructionOfTheEarth.Wordpress.Com concerning such destruction and perversion and also concerning The Creator’s(GOD, Great Spirit,,) promise that HE will “destroy those who destroy the earth(HIS Creation)!” (Rev11:18)
Yet there is a Living, Lively Hope!
However, such a hope is not for that which is of the earth, earthly and fleshly, but there is Hope for that which is Spirit, Heavenly and Spiritual.
Hope is only alive for that which is Spirit because “progress”, which is driven by mankind’s “imag”ination, can most certainly pervert, yet not destroy, that which is Spirit! For that which is Spirit is Real, and that which is Real is Forever!
So no matter how perverse this world’s systems of religion become, that which is Spirit can only be abused and perverted, not destroyed!
“Pure religion and undefiled before GOD(Creator, Great Spirit) The Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself uncontaminated by the world.” (James 1:27)
Simply, every other religion is impure and defiled!
As stated, “mankind’s “imag”ination can pervert, yet not destroy, that which is Spirit”, and so it is that this world, and it’s systems of religion, have their version of “Light”, which can be turned on and off;
their version of “Truth”, which is of the “imag”ination;
their version of “Love”, which should be called lust;
their version of “Peace”, which needs be enforced;
their version of “Hope”, which is but a desire for temporal “things”;
their version of “Faith”, which is powerless;
their version of “Grace”, which is the liberty to “do your own thing”;
and sadly, the favorite color of this world is gray ;-(
So come out of the shadows! And as is said by many, “Get Real”!
Once again, “only that which is Spirit is Real, and only that which is Real is Forever”!
Hope is there would be those who “see” that The Life is in and of Spirit. Those who “see” will no longer have their portion with the multitudes who are destroying the earth(and, air, water, creatures, vegetation) and perverting that which is Spirit(Light, Life, Truth, Love, Peace, Hope, Faith, Grace, etc.) ;-(
Simply, each breath(spirit) you take is a revelation of The Source of Life.
And “A Simple and Spiritual Life is the only Life that will survive!”

Whenever I read stuff like this, I’m reminded of when the Dalai Lama was asked by a scientist what Buddhists would do if it was proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that re-incarnation did not actually occur after death. The Dalai Lama said he guessed the religion would have to change its beliefs and adapt - an incredibly progressive statement for the leader of a faith.
Can you imagine ANYONE from the Catholic Church or from an evangelical arm of the Christian Church saying something like that? Me either.
