Virtual Villagers Tribe Selector

Based on the work Borg has done on his VV2 Tribe Selector, I've started working on a VV Tribe Selector for Mac. It's built in AppleScript Studio.

Status

Beta 1 is almost ready. Get the Tribe Selector for Macintosh (zipped disk image) here!

It looks like intel macs use different offsets in the file. Please only use on PPC for now. (update: I haven't tested Rosetta, just a beta of the UB build. Feel free to try with the release app.)

Cost

Well, it's currently free. If it becomes a support problem, I may need to ask for donations via paypal. We'll see.

Release Notes for Tribe Selector 0.9 (Beta 1)

Tribe Selector copyright 2007 by Michael Croft.

This is an unfinished Beta version of the Tribe Selector application for Last Day of Work's Virtual Villagers and Virtual Villagers 2. It depends on those applications an their prefrence files to be of any use to anyone. Please purchase Virtual Villagers from http://www.ldw.com

Purpose:

Tribe Selector resolves problems for households with one mac and more than one user of Virtual Villagers. The application allows a user to select a Tribe, optionally change from full-screened to windowed mode, and launch the appropriate Virtual Viallgers application. It can work with both The Original Virtual Villagers - A New Home and Virtual Villagers 2 - The Lost Children.

Installation and Usage:

Copy the Application from the disk image to your local hard drive, double-click it, select a game and tribe, and cick "Launch"

Known Issues:

Because Virtual Villagers has been released through a number of game sites, there are multiple versions in release with different names and different preference locations. I am not aware of every site that has carried these games or the names they've used for it. Those values are hard-coded into the application. If Tribe Selector doesn't work for you, please let me know at dev@whiterose.org

Acknowledgement:

In addition to support and encouragement from the fine folks at Last Day of Work, fellow ldwforums user Borg helped me with the nitty gritty. His Windows Tribe Selector was the basis for this Tribe Selector.

License:

Michael Croft grants you a non-exclusive license to install Tribe Selector for personal use and testing. This license does not allow distribution in any form or any commercial activity. Please contact the developer for information regarding other license terms.

Warranty:

Tribe Selector is not warranted to meet any need or to run on any particular system. Michael Croft disclaims liability for any damages caused by Tribe Selector.

Beta Disclaimer:

This is beta software. Back up your important stuff. Definitely back up your LDW folder.
